With PLACE Alliance and New England Environmental, our work on the 2014 Village of Sidney Long Term Community Recovery Plan and New York Rising Community Reconstruction Plan were recognized with a Merit Award for Planning and Analysis. The Hallmark of this work was development of the 140 acre Sidney GreenPlain – an emerging model for high capacity green infrastructure floodplain enhancement.

Our work leading development of the 2012 Long Term Community Recovery Plan and 2014 NY Rising Community Reconstruction Plan (with the Parsons Transportation team) were recognized with a Planning Excellence Award in Grassroots Participation. The Town’s residents were also recognized as Citizen Planners.

Our City of Kingston Local Waterfront Revitalization Program Implementation Strategy was recognized as an Outstanding Comprehensive Plan. This plan was the basis for Step One and Two Brownfield Opportunity Area Nominations and the development of innovative waterfront design guidelines.
Highlight: Sidney GreenPlain
Recognized as a statewide and national model of green infrastructure floodplain reclamation, the 140-acre Sidney GreenPlain is a high-capacity enhanced floodplain designed to protect surrounding neighborhoods, the Main Street core, and downstream municipalities from flooding. The GreenPlain will be a community and regional asset offering walking trails, wetland walks, interpretive signage, scenic overlooks, picnic areas, connections to a riverwalk, and active recreation park all within walking distance to Main Street and the Village’s small business base.
